Strengthening communities means strengthening families, schools and non-profit agencies. As such, BiasHELP mentors, trains and supports regional organizations serving at-risk youth.
•BiasHELP participates in a variety of community coalitions, planning groups and task forces designed to coordinate local resources, encourage collaboration and create a united front against violence.
•Bias crimes and acts of violence send a powerful and lasting message of hatred that must be challenged. We work to develop, support and strengthen community voices to ensure a unified public response that is swift and forceful.
•BiasHELP provides technical assistance, training and in some cases, financial assistance to youth-serving organizations on Long Island. We’ve helped local community-based and faith-based agencies to strengthen their boards of directors and management teams, enhance their fiscal accountability, and better demonstrate programmatic outcomes. We’ve trained them in effective grant seeking, public relations and program evaluation. We believe that strong non-profits are vital to creating stronger communities. Among our current partners are STRONG Youth, the Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk, the First Baptist Church of Riverhead and the Hispanic Brotherhood of Rockville Centre.
